P&O Ferrymasters contract carrier repeats Tata Steel quality triumph
19th June 2012
For the second year running, Dutch haulier Pot Transportbedrijf has won the quality award for the best health & safety performance among P&O Ferrymasters sub-contractors supporting pan-European transport operations from Tata Steel’s IJmuiden plant in the Netherlands.
A joint initiative by Tata Steel and lead contractor P&O Ferrymasters, the award is open to the top 20 haulage partners involved in moves from the giant steel producer’s main European site – those making more than 300 collections a year for delivery to national and international destinations.
The scheme encourages a pro-active approach to the constant challenge of maintaining excellence in health and safety standards. Performance is measured under various categories and provides helpful feedback to hauliers as well as triggering close monitoring of any that score below average.
In a repeat of the previous year’s ceremony, the 2011 award was presented to Pot Transportbedrijf owner Frans Pot by Derk Triezenberg, Tata Steel’s on-site logistics general manager, during the annual carriers meeting. Besides a trophy, the winner also received a contribution for the company’s staff association.
Tata Steel is Europe’s second largest steel producer and also ranks among the world top ten.
