Meyrick's Merits
P&O Ferrymasters appoints new Irish Division Director
Leading European freight management company P&O Ferrymasters has appointed Ian Meyrick as the new board director with responsibility for further development of the company’s growing Irish business.
Ian, 47, has worked for Ferrymasters for the last 10 years and moves up from the position of divisional general manager responsible for Ireland, a role he was appointed to at the beginning of 2005. His promotion coincides with the growing profitability of the Irish business brought about by the combination of strategic investment in new equipment and his introduction of robust and rigorous cost control procedures on both east and westbound traffic.
Motorcycle enthusiast Ian lives near Blackpool in Lancashire and will continue to spend his time between Ferrymasters’ offices in Fleetwood in the UK and its three locations in Ireland where he is responsible for the 75 staff currently servicing the Irish business.
During 2005 Ferrymasters introduced an initial 400 brand new Krone sliding roof tautliner trailers on to the Irish roads, an investment that underlined its commitment to the existing and prospective customer base in Ireland and the UK.
The growth of the Irish business has come about from a number factors including investment and introducing greater control procedures for load selections, particularly on the re-loading of eastbound traffic,” says Meyrick.
“I am delighted with my appointment which, combined with the scheduled second wave of trailer investment, represents a strategic decision to further support the growing Irish business.’’
