New Spanish Office

P&O Ferrymasters doubles its Spanish offering

Leading European freight management specialists P&O Ferrymasters has doubled its offering across the Iberian Peninsular with the opening of a new forwarding office in Madrid as well as strengthening its staffing levels in Barcelona to deal with the 24 per cent increase in business over the last 12 months.

The new forwarding office in Leoches, Madrid will serve the central and northern regions of Spain to complement the existing offering out of the Catalonian capital of Barcelona - a service that has outgrown its existing Santa Perpetua de la Mogoda office and now requires new facilities in Badalona to accommodate three new freight specialists joining the business.
In Madrid, the new office will be managed by Nacho Artaiz who will be joined by new staff Alberto Barrasso, freight services specialist and full load guru Roland Tarifa. All will report to Federico Delclos, General Manager for Spain.

In Barcelona the team has been further strengthened by domestic specialist Gracia Segarra and two further experts Paolo Moreira and Anabel Alfonso.

The move follows a dramatic increase in business mainly full loads and groupage to the UK, France, Germany, Belgium and increasing interest in Eastern Europe which saw a 20 per cent increase in business over the since 2006.

The business, which has seen a 24% increase in turnover in just 12 months has set its sights on increasing the business further and growing its intermodal services across Europe.

The growth of Ferrymasters’ Spanish footprint is good news for the country’s economy as it signals an intention to counter the trend toward increased imports and reduced exports.
“The business has become very strong in Spain which is reflected in the confidence we feel in opening our new office in Madrid and further strengthening our team in Barcelona,” says Delclos.

“We have become bolder and have a strong domestic offering, but a bigger corporate account portfolio with some of the world’s biggest blue chip organisations choosing our solutions in what is a very competitive European market,” adds Delclos.
