Carrier Manager

As Carrier Manager you will be part of a highly dedicated and professional team,which is responsible for delivering the highest quality of service to an internationally dedicatedclient base. The main purpose of your role is to be responsible for procurement of transport and managing relationships with existing carriers by actively managing their performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and review carriers’ performance in terms of Safety, Service and Cost.
  • Negotiate with existing and new carriers on rate agreements and volume allocations, in line with market changes.
  • Source new carrier opportunities to support development of new business within Europe.
  • Onboard new carriers at loading locations.
  • Master data in the P&O Ferrymasters IT systems
  • Set up new carriers and maintain existing carriers
  • Set up carrier rates, lead times and surcharges.
  • Implement EDI connectivity when possible.
  • Otherwise: ensure carriers are using the web portal optimally
  • Support in implementing Track and Trace functionality and any other digital requirement.
  • Understand the transport market: Be informed of and manage changes in the market with the suppliers (Ferry price changes; Fuel price changes; Government Tax and Tolls; Currency changes). Inform the business of such changes and potential impacts and solutions.
  • Continuously seek for improvement possibilities (operationally, financially and sustainability).
  • Work together with other Carrier Managers to keep processes aligned and learn from each other.

 

Your profile
  • Have at least five years of specific work experience in tender and contract management in a transport / logistics environment
  • You are preferable based in Eastern Europe and / or are willing to travel across eastern Europe to visit partners and suppliers and maintain the relationship
  • Are a real connector between internal and external stakeholders with a pro-active mindset and have good communication skills
  • Have very good knowledge of English language and preferable 2nd and a 3rd language such as German or Polish
