Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF)

In March, the BAF is updated weekly. As of April, the BAF is updated monthly. It is applicable for shortsea only and the level is based on the average price for the range in the previous period.

The weekly BAF will be stated on Mondays and will become effective immediately for the respective week. Concerning other air pollutants, P&O Ferrymasters meets the strict environmental standards that apply to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea in all its operations. P&O Ferrymasters also takes an active part in the work for environmental improvements at sea through the Danish Shipowners’ Association and supports the Danish Shipowners' Association's climate charter. BAF is calculated on collection date.

Bunker costs (EUR) are based on:

Average bunker costs: Marine Gas Oil (MGO) FOB Barges 0.1% high Rotterdam.
Converted into EUR from USD at a daily rate of exchange, based on European Central Bank (ECB), official rates.

13% will be added to the FOB Barges Platts index, due to environmental and handling costs

Fuel Surcharge / Emergency Fuel Escalator

Below you can find the Fuel Surcharge percentage for intermodal and road transport. The percentage is updated weekly.

For customers operating under the Fuel Surcharge mechanism, the March rate of 2.53% is frozen until further notice, supplemented by a weekly Emergency Fuel Escalator.

The average diesel price: 2.148 per liter for week 16 in April.

The average diesel price: 2.130 per liter for week 17 in April.

**The average diesel price of the prior month will correspond with the percentage linked to that specific bracket.
The Fuel surcharge is based on P&O Ferrymasters' Average Automotive Diesel Price (per 1000 litre incl. tax).

Emergency Fuel Surcharge

The EFS is implemented to cover the increase of fuel prices for land transports on shortsea bookings.

It is updated on a monthly basis and follows the EU-27 Diesel price (including taxes) index (Weekly Oil Bulletin), based on the monthly average price observed between the 20th of the previous month and the 19th of the current month. It will be applied for the following month.

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Surcharge

The GHG surcharge applies for all shipments in P&O equipment (containers and trailers). The surcharge is updated monthly.

The first GHG Surcharge is based on the price of the European Union Allowance (EUA).

The average EUA price for the period March 16th to April 15th is EUR 69.57
