
As Intermodal Operations Manager East you will be responsible for managing all intermodal operations within region East, ensuring that trucks and containers are routed in the most cost-effective manner while meeting customer requirements. A key part of the role involves maintaining clear and timely communication between employees and suppliers to achieve optimal performance and maximize returns. (Mindset: Operational Excellence whilst exceeding customer expectations).
You will take ownership of haulage spend budgets and direct operational expenditure, as well as oversee terminal agreements and associated budgets for the region. Operational decision-making will require setting clear priorities, always aiming to drive revenue maximization and cost efficiency.
In addition, you will coach, motivate, and collaborate with the team involved in intermodal activities, while working closely with the Zeebrugge (Belgium) office to ensure end-to-end operational excellence.
To facilitate optimal cooperation/communication with other related planning departments with the aim of keeping a central overview on operations, and units’ utilisation/availability generally
Ensure correct execution of all transport orders aligned with client demands, adhere to company policies, and promptly report deviations. Manage supplier tariffs and maintain high-quality data entry in the ERP system
To ensure optimal planning decisions are made, taking into consideration, available capacity, quality of service, safety, and cost such as empty kilometres and optimal routing
To identify continuous improvements within our intermodal operations generally, and to coordinate improvement projects within the operational departments
To control supplier cost by mitigating risk of minimum payments daily (partially through the continental planning team), and additionally by means of creating/controlling weekly supplier RCN’s/self-bills
To maintain good relationship with the Spanish trucking supplier pool with the aim to continue the long-term customer-supplier relationships at most competitive cost base, against service levels as required by the customer base.
Educated to a minimum of MBO-level or equivalent (preferably in logistics)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory/managerial role
5 years in a Transport Operations role in office environment
Good command of Polish and English language
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
Leadership and coordinating skills
Customer orientated and have good topographical knowledge of Eastern Europe
